The de Havillands Company

The de Havilland Model Railway Society was originally formed by a group employees at the de Havillands company's Hatfield site. Consequently we still have strong interest in the de Havilland company, it's Canadian offshoot and the aerospace industry in general.

 

Over the years de Havilland's at its Hatfield site have produced many famous aircraft which have become part of history. Illustrated below are just a few of samples of these famous aircraft.

One of the classic British aircraft designs.

Built as a training aircraft for both civilian and military pilots, many are still being used today.

Winner of the 11,000 mile 1934 England to Australia MacRobertson airrace

Built during WWII it operated very successfully as a fighter, bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. Largely built of wood it produced only a small radar image forestalling current stealth technology.
