Tracker Meeting!
Meeting set for Thursday, June 15

Our next meeting of the new millennium will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2000. We will be at the JOHN C. WOOD Municipal Center, which is located at 3730 Old Lee Highway just behind the Fairfax City Police Station. We’ll be in Room #1 and the meeting will start at 07:00 p.m.

Hale-McKinney Construction Inc.
Modules made to order

Two trackers, Frank Hale & Thom McKinney joined forces and started making modules for sale. At the May meeting, they delivered five modules, two for Jim Warrington, two were bought by Jeff Battles and Tony Duncanson bought the fifth one. The modules are complete with track, track bed, carpet, folding legs and fully painted and wired. Cost runs around $150.00 per module. Call either Frank or Thom if you are interested.

Moving on Up!
New module owners quickly qualifying for Partner status

With their recent purchases, the new module owners are rapidly completing the two appearances necessary for qualification as partners. Tony Duncanson was in the Beltsville Day show and Jeff Battles was in the Manassas Railway Festival. They are both scheduled to appear at the Fairfax Fair which will complete their partner requirements. Congratulations to both of them. The enclosed roster reflects their new status. Not to be outdone, Jim Warrington make his initial debut at Fairfax Fair which Gary Levinus, Jr. will complete his second show at the Fairfax Fair thereby qualifying him for partner status. Great job Jim and Gary.

…From All Ships at Sea…
The following e-mail was received from a ship in the 2nd fleet.

"Cruising the web aboard the 2nd Fleet flagship. Nice site, great trains and I recognize a few of your members. I was stationed in the Pentagon ten years ago and road up to MTH with gentlemen named Carl and Carl, one of your bearded Carls looks to be a match!!!. (ED He is referring to Carl Condon and Carl Sibley)

My name is Mike Reedy. Long time, no see. I have since commanded two navy ships, and of course am still on the job. I belong to a similar group in the Hampton Roads area, living myself in Virginia Beach. Our original traveling layout has grown roots in the Tower Mall, Portsmouth. We have a lighter traveling layout which lacks the finish of yours.

Great pictures, nice appearance. Keep up the great work. If you are in the Hampton Roads area call "The Roundhouse" for directions and times. In general we run Fridays and Saturdays at the tower mall and meet to eat and yap on Wednesday evenings at the Stone House restaurant, just off I-64 on US 13, Military Highway. The place is a hole in the wall but exceeds our low standards.

We have begun to attend York in groups, setting up a table for the liquidation of excesses. It is nice to see how successful you are. I will try to print some of this and pass it around at one of our meetings, maybe we should publish. Well, thanks for entertaining my ramble."

Mike Reedy, Commander , USN

Beltsville Day a Success
Early reports of a great time for all

Our Beltsville Day exhibit on May 21 was handled by Brendon Seyfried in his first time as Trackmaster. The show went off without a hitch and all reports were favorable. Good job Brendon.

Train Depot Thanks
Once again, we want to thank the Train Depot for printing our newsletters and brochures. This means a substantial savings to our club. So stop by their Manassas store and say thanks to Dennis Driscoll.

Fairfax County Fair
June 09-10-11, 2000

Revised layout and manning schedule is enclosed. Parking passes were distributed at the Manassas Railway festival for those present and the remainder were mailed to trackers participating.

Some first time participants have asked for directions so here goes:

Take Rt. 66 West and then proceed south on Rt. 7100 - Fairfax County Parkway. Go to the first exit which is Rt. 29 - Lee Highway. Take Lee Highway East (This is a confusing intersection and will require you to circle through a couple of lights).

Take Rt. 29 East to the next light and turn left onto Forum Dr. Continue on Forum to the first light (1 block), Forum Drive dead ends here. You want to turn left onto Government Center Parkway. There are two left turn lanes (stay in the rightmost of the two).

Stay in the far right hand lane on Government Drive and it will direct you right into the entrance to the Fair. There will be traffic cones setup to separate your lane from the other lanes.

Your parking pass will admit you and the rest of the occupants of your vehicle to the underground parking garage. Take an elevator to the First floor and follow the signs for the Forum. This is where the trackers will be set up.

Remember, we will be setting up on Thursday evening around 06:00 pm (or sooner if you can get there). Bill Buschmeier is trackmaster for this event. A revised show layout is enclosed.

Please double check your particpation.

July Greenberg
July 15-16 at the Capital Expo Center

The hot summer days will find us back at the Capital Expo Center for a Greenberg Train Show on July 15-16. Bill Buschmeier is trackmaster for this event. A revised show layout is enclosed.

Scheduled to exhibit their modules are: Gil Baldwin, Jeff Battles, Carl Condon, Richard Eudy, Jack Frost, Rick Hamilton, Gary Lavinus, Thom McKinney, Parks Schaefer, Skip Sheetz, Jack Schmidt, Jim Warrington, Keith Webb

All those participating should make an effort to setup on Friday evening (Maryland folks excluded). This allows us to accomplish the majority of the setup on Friday and complete the setup at a leisurely pace on Saturday morning. Greenberg allows Friday setups from 03:00 pm until 08:30 pm. Trackers should try and get there between 05:00 - 06:00 pm if they can make it on Friday night.

Shortened Newsletter
Spring fever hits

A number of the contributors to this newsletter are buried under mounds of work and the result is this abbreviated newsletter. If anyone wants to submit articles for our next edition, which will be in September, please feel free to do so.

Bill Creech is working on an appearance for next March with the scouts in Woodbridge. More information on this will follow.
