Don Phillips
Noted rail journalist

Our guest speaker will be Don Phillips, noted long-time columnist for TRAINS Magazine, and reporter for the International Herald Tribune up to 2006.

Don also was a reporter for the Washington Post, where he specialized in transportation issues for 15 years, and covered the evolution of Amtrak and transportation legislation in Congress. Additionally, Don covered legislation regarding the deregulation of railroads, and the creation of Conrail in 1976 as a reporter for United Press International.

With his extensive background in covering railroads and other transportation modes for the past 30 years, Don has many most interesting stories to tell about his experiences. Don will speak on the current state of railroading, and the efforts of some cities and transit systems to restrict railfan photography.
