Rock ledge Bridges

A semicircular timber trestle is used to reverse direction at ther land boundary.
The grade here is eased to 1:40 for the 1.5m radius curve.The bridge is made from tomato stakes.


This shows the unequal heights of the timber trestles needed to allow for the ledge variations. Max height is 1.2m.
The trestle leads to a timber truss 1m long, supported on Hebel piers. It is also made from tomato stakes.


A short section cut from the rock leads to a steel arch bridge 2m long.


The small Garratt heads downhill across the arch bridge.


The diesel is heading uphill to Termite. Sandstone is below to the left and Ironbark is top right.
This is the second path crossing.


A coal train with push-up engine battles the 1:25 grade.


The big Garratt is battling the hill. The entrance to Termite is in the background.
