About Myself
My name is Nicholas Todd. I am the youngest (13 years) real Alcofan you will find who know's what he's talking about. I have studied Alcos in depth for four years and I am pushing my physical and mental boundaries to provide quality, accurate information to the railfan community. (That means I am on average getting 5 hours of sleep and living a lonely life because nobody my age likes trains in my area, and my family isn't exactly happy that I am obsessed with railroads. Arguments because of this are the norm, adding to the fact that I have been diagnosed with depression for six years. I have studied and photographed trains since my early days beginning in the Bay Area, which is in Northern Califorinia. There I traveled the local commuter system, CalTrain, and frequently visited SP, UP, and AT&SF yards and right-of-ways. Weekly rentals of Pentrex videos were a favorite pastime of mine. My knowledge of many class-one railroads came from those films. My favorite videos were of Tehachapi loop, the DRGW, and the MKT. Since then I have moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon, and settled in three Portland locations (and have grown to my current height of 5’7” (170 cm). From there I gained an interest in a local railroad right of way which basically was stolen by the city to build a bike trail, and Alcos. When I am not busy working in an 8th grade classroom or working at home, I like to draw, listen to talk radio (Phil Hendrie and Michael Savage are favorites) and ride my bike. Or I do things on my computer. When it comes to TV and movies, I like things with action, comedy and big explosions. If I'm not doing any of the former, I'll be reading with my desk buddy Crystal (left) or the neighbor's cat Scribble (right), who decided to move in with me.
My Camera Most of my photos were taken by my Olympus C-720UZ digital camera, which was purchased in Louisiana.
