Pages are sorted out by the information listed. Data is arranged by sales order numbers, construction numbers, and ‘order’ numbers. Note: Effective 3/64, the use of 5-digit serial numbers ceased; ‘shop’ numbers were applied instead.

-Using individual locomotive histories-

For the sake of simplicity and consistency:

Reporting marks are used where possible to refer to a company. An explanation of each mark used on that page can be found by clicking “Reporting marks” near the upper right side of the page.
Brackets contain notes, location, or purpose of a transaction. [t] signifies a transfer of ownership, be it internally or from a merger. [t-i] stands for “traded in”. XXXX [scr](MM-YY) means that the unit was sold for scrap to this firm on whatever date. Wrk: wrecked rtd: retired r.b.: rebuilt scr: scrapped.
Dates (e.g. ownership change, re#, retirement) are placed between parenthesis.
A virgule “/” is placed between different owners.
By placing the pound sign and serial number found the page you are viewing into your address bar at the end of you locale and pressing enter, you will go directly to that unit. Example: http://206.225.93.88/alco/DISP3470-84.html#3474-02

I understand that you probably have gotten impatient waiting here for new pages to show up. Please understand, although I have base files to go by, things sill take a long time. Unit-by-unit pages take especially long. I have to research as much as possible, verify that data, and copy that into an HTML editor. A name tags are placed internally for each locomotive as described above- doing this in Notepad for 125 units can take quite some time. Once I had all the information ready for one page, it took five hours (midnight to 5) to create the tables, paste the text in, and fix alignment issues.

You may post data from this site on a forum, I just ask that credit is given. If you have a personal website, you are welcome to use some data, but please let me know how much and what.
