All Aboard Patent

U.S. Patent 3025626-March 20, 1962-Scenic Tiles For Miniature Railroad-G. F. Schumacher (Inventor)

American Flyer had considered a scenic panel type of train set as early as 1958 when this patent was originally filed. The first panel set came out in 1959 and was called Scena-Rama. It consisted of 12 fiberboard panels, scenic material, and used the standard Flyer track that was installed by the owner. Below are the drawings of the scenic tiles as included in the patent. It is interesting to note that the All Aboard panels were actually molded by Marvin Glass & Associates, makers of many popular toys and games of the 1960's.

This is the patent mark that is molded on the underside of each All Aboard Panel.
