OK,
there's an interesting story behind this story. I was in
Tallahassee driving back to my hotel from Dinner at Lucy Ho's (off
Capital Circle NE just before Thomasville Rd.) when I heard this
on my radio, "Q631 UP Engine 4148 South has an Approach
Distant Signal Tallahassee, Over." Well I knew I was close to
the Distant to Tallahassee because of how clear the transmission
came into my radio. So I cut through some traffic, raced down a
side street, cut west towards the tracks when I heard his airhorn.
Since I wasn't in a good stopping place I cut south on another
side street parallel to the tracks. When the road curved I spotted
the right of way right behind a run down apartement complex. I
pulled in next to the apartment complex and parked. As I climbed
out of my car, I heard the hum of his ponies, got out my camera
and captured this image. With 10 seconds to spare and no real time
to frame up the shot I think it came out pretty well. And that's
the story behind my first shot of a UP Engine. |
