*- Currently Trains 448-449, the Lake Shore Limited operates as a separate train from Boston to Albany, NY where it connects with 48-49.  The train currently uses Amfleet I equipment.  Restoration of the through train and the Boston Sleeper is probable with the spring timetable change, since the separate train is used in an effort to reduce the likelihood of equipment freezing.  The 3 sets required are for 448-449 operating BOS-CHI not the current BOS-ALB stub train.

Total assigned in regular service: 35 in summer/ 37 in winter
Cars held for maintenance, storage, and as protection equipment: 15 in summer/ 13 in winter
Preventative maintenance at Hialeah and/or Sanford (92 day inspection, requires 3 days out of service): 3
Heavy overhaul/wreck repair at Beech Grove (annual inspection, requires 1-2 weeks o/s): 2
Stored(?): 2 (cars 62011 and 62013 from Silver Star wreck; Hinesville, Ga., 5/5/03; to be repaired(?))
