Journey Coast to Coast on Amtrak's Sunset Limited

The following are views of Amtrak's only true trans-continental  train, the Sunset Limited, which runs from Los Angeles to Orlando, Fla., en route visiting such large cities as Phoenix (area), Tucson, Ariz., San Antonio, Houston, New Orleans and Jacksonville, Fla. These are only the beginning of pictures of the Sunset. More will be added in the future.Click on thumbnail images for larger views..

In the desert mountains west of Lordsburg, N.M., near Steins, N.M.

About four hours west of San Antonio and 45 minutes west of Del Rio, the famous Pecos River bridge.
Not an Amtrak train, as the photographer had hoped for after a rigorous 1-hour hike in the desert.   Thanks to Union Pacific freight delays, No. 1 never crossed this bridge during daylight hours that day.

Dawn in San Antonio's Sunset Station where the Sunset meets the Texas Eagle.
