Built By Budd in 1954 as a Dome-Coach for the Northern Pacific Railway (wears reporting marks for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railway who actually owned the car) and numbered 558. The car was used on the Chicago-Seattle "North Coast Limited". Conveyed to Amtrak in 1971 and renumbered 9485. Converted to Head-End Power from Steam Heat in June 1983 and renumbered 9406. Amtrak placed the car up for sale in April 1995. The car briefly operated on the Grand Canyon Railway and was named "Kokopelli".
Rail Adventures Inc. acquired the car in 1995 and made mechanical upgrades in 1996. The galley, lougne and a master bedroom were completed during 1998. 2 deluxe bedrooms and an attendant's room were added in 2000. The car has a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, 2 deluxe bedrooms with full-size double beds, two showers, an attendant's room, and kitchen for full meal service. The car features dome seating for 24 passengers as well (6 4-passenger booths) and 8 booth seats and 10 leather seats in the cherry-paneled long lounge. The car was purchased by Paxrail in 2015 and renamed "Stampede Pass". Historical information about this car provided by AAPRCO, Amtrak By The Numbers, and Paxrail.
