Amtrak's Heritage Dining Car Roster Photos
GENERAL: Formerly Amtrak Heritage Sleepers rebuilt as Crew Dormatory/Lounge Cars...
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: These cars were given to Amtrak at its start back in 1971 and came from several railroads. As the delivery of new Viewliner Sleepers in the East came about, several of these cars were rebuilt into Crew Dorms with a few still running as sleepers on the Three Rivers until late 2001. These cars have since been retired with crew taking up space in a Viewliner on trains that used to operate with one of these cars.
NOTES: 2 of these cars are reported to have been reactivated by Amtrak as cars for special services.
