Amtrak's Superliner Sleeping Car Roster Photos
GENERAL: Amtrak's Double Level Sleeping Cars for Long-Distance Trains that permit them due to their height.
TERRITORY: These cars can be seen running on long-distance trains out West as well as on the Capitol Limited & Auto Train in the East. Due to their higher clearance requirements, these cars never run on trains originating from or heading to New York.
NOTES: Amtrak received 2 orders of these cars. The Superliner I cars were the last cars to be built by Pullman-Standard with the second order, the Superliner II cars, being built by Bombardier. The first order of these cars were slated to have been named after National Parks though for unknown reasons, the names were never applied to the cars. A couple of cars in the first order did receive names but not names of National Parks. The second order were named after States and those names were applied to the cars at the time of manufacture however as they have been painted into Phase IVb paint, those names have disappeared. The photos here will have the car name listed in the masthead at the top of each photo regardless of if it actually appears on the car itself.
