Railfanning At The High Falls On The Genesee River

After spending part of the afternoon at Fairport, I drove back to Downtown Rochester and parked the car near the Center At High Falls and made the walk out onto the Platt Street Bridge over the Genesee River. Once I found a good spot, I set up the camera and tripod and waited for the trains. My plan was to photograph Amtrak Empire Service Train #281 along with whatever freights would come by. My original hope was also to photograph Amtrak Empire Service Train #283 but due to a change in the weather and a late running train, I would only photograph #281 in Rochester. Upon leaving the High Falls, I drove out to the suburb of Gates to eat at a restaurant built inside a former New York Central station there but unfortunately it was closed. I continued the drive back to Buffalo and would photograph #283 there. Included here are some photos at the High Falls and of Train #283 at Buffalo-Depew Station on the way home. Until next time, when I'll be heading back out to Ohio to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad at my favorite amusement park on the planet, Happy Railfanning...
The first train at the High Falls for me today was this westbound van train with CSX GE AC6000CW #635 leading.

Next up is this eastbound van train with CSX GE AC4400CW #38 on the head end.

This westbound CSX freight is next up with GE ES40DC #5358 as the leader.

My final train I would photograph at the High Falls would be Amtrak Empire Service Train #281 with
GE P32AC-DM #705 providing the power for this train which is bound for Niagara Falls.

Genesee Beer & Ale's brewery in the heart of Rochester. The Genesee Brew House Restaurant is now located in the
building located in the far right part of this photo. I'll have to eat there sometime on a future trip!

Looking west, this is the Platt Street Bridge that I stood on to get these photos. This used to be a car bridge but now is the centerpiece
of this area providing incredible views of the beautiful High Falls. This bridge is also very popular with bird watchers as well. The tall
building in the right of the photo is home to a company whom I as well as tens of thousands of photographers all over the world have
at one point or another done business with, and that is none other than the Eastman Kodak Company.

Finally, now back at Buffalo-Depew Station, is Amtrak Empire Service Train #283 with GE P32AC-DM #716 for power. Not long after I
finished taking the photos for this (this photo is a Manual HDR image comprized of several images), it started raining pretty good so I
was glad to have gotten the photos just in time. That's all folks!!!
