Photos Taken On The GE Test Track

After spending a good amount of time at the museum in North East, I took a drive out to Harborcreek and Iroquois Ave which parallels the East Erie Commercial Railroad, better known as the GE Test Track which is a 3 mile railroad that GE uses to test new locomotives built at its facility in Erie. Amtrak's primary road power, the P42DC, was built in Erie along with thousands of locomotives for freight railroads in this country as well as many other countries. After reading about this railroad online, I knew I needed to check this out for myself. After getting some photos at Iroquois Ave, I drove over to a road crossing on Walbridge Road in Harborcreek for a few more photos before heading to Downtown Erie to continue this trip, included here are some photos on the GE Test Track, enjoy...

A 3 unit lashup of some brand-new power from GE Transportation Systems of Erie, PA as seen from Iroquois Ave.

The leader in this lashup was brand new GE ES44C4 #7026 for the BNSF Railway.

The second unit today was another GE ES44C4, this time #7028 also for the BNSF.
These were so new, you could almost smell the paint!

Finally, we have C45ACCTE #7949 for the Union Pacific Railroad. These may be some of the first photos of these units
as they were all being tested by GE before being delivered to their new owners!

Here are the same 3 units approaching the Walbridge Road crossing.
