Cedar Point Presents "Luminosity"

If you've read my travelogues over the years, you'll see that Cedar Point is usually my first destination on my big Amtrak trip every year. I had the good fortune of completing a college internship at this World Class park 11 years ago and have visited the park every year now for 21 straight years. In that time, new roller coasters and other attractions have been added to the park that just make me want to keep coming back for more! I had the privilege this year of being invited there for the opening night of CP's new show "Luminosity" which is a mix of music & dancing, with fireworks, lasers, and flame throwers thrown in the mix! The show concludes with a DJ playing some of today's biggest hits in an area of the park called "Celebration Plaza". Cedar Point constructed a new stage for this nightly show that would run during the peak of the summer season.
It was a big deal for me to see this show for a couple reasons: First and foremost, I am an enormous fan of Cedar Point (if you've read my travelogues over the years, I'm sure you can tell that) and always have been. Second, I am a DJ myself and wanted to see how great of a show this would be in the park! All I can say is that this show was like nothing I have ever seen in the park in the 21 years I've been coming here. I put that quote in the title graphic above that says "History was made in Sandusky, OH tonight" and that is exactly was what I said to some members of CP management that I know personally at the park that night after seeing this show. What I saw that night can only be described as BEYOND WORLD CLASS!!! Congratulations again to Cedar Point for putting together an absolutely awesome show! Included here are photos I took of this event. I felt more like a one-man production company while taking these photos. I hope these photos show the incredible amount of energy that was in the park that night! You really need to check out this show for yourself next year (it had ended for the year by the time this travelogue went online). Enjoy...

At the start of the show, the lights came on all over the stage along with fog machines filling up the area with fog that would be used
by the lasers also located throughout the stage. The first song they played was "We Found Love" by Rihanna & Calvin Harris.

A good example of why a lot of fog is used in this show, so that the laser beams are easier to see!

The lighting and though it can't be shown in pictures, the sound, was absolutely incredible!!!

There were 4 circular platforms that dancers would walk up onto and dance as part of their routine.

Just an absolutely incredible production, in an amusement park of all places!

The show also featured Cirque Dancers!

If you just love pop music, you need to see this show!

Now I thought this was really cool! They poured water on top of these drums which had lights mounted underneath them so when
they banged on the drums, the water droplets would light up!

This show lit up the sky with fireworks, lasers, and yes, flame throwers!

The fireworks at the end of this show were great!

One more photo of some awesome fireworks!

After the actual show ended, a DJ rose up above the crowd and played great music for a good hour or more, and people stayed
and had a great time, CP really has a winner with this one!

After the show ended, I drove back to my hotel, a Hilton Garden Inn located near the Cleveland Hopkins Airport and would drive back home the following morning. I had my iPod hooked up to my car during the drive back to the hotel and was listening to some of the great music that was played during this show! This show marked the end of a great day that included some excellent railfanning in the Erie, PA area and allowed me to combine another hobby (All Things Cedar Point) with my railroad hobby! I like the idea of "combining hobbies"! I do quite a bit of it every year on my big Amtrak trip when I go to Cedar Point having rode Amtrak to get there! Until next time, when I'll be heading to Rochester, NY for some railfanning there, Happy Railfanning...
