Railfanning At Chicago's Roosevelt Avenue

The new Southgate Market shopping plaza is now open at the corner of Canal Street and Roosevelt Avenue which allows for this view from the parking ramp. Seen here is former F40PH, now a Non-Powered Control Unit #90215.

Superliner I Diner-Lounge Car #37000. This was a concept being used on select trains to combine the lounge car with the diner.

After spending some time at Roosevelt Ave (amazing that it was sunny coming into Chicago but by the time I got to Roosevelt Ave, it was cloudy, PHOTOGRAPHY BUMMER!!!), I walked back to Union Station, stopping at a local CVS/Pharmacy to pick up a 12 pack of Diet Pepsi and some snacks for the trip. After picking up the "Consumables", I then walked back to Union Station. Once back in Union Station, I went back to the Metropolitan Lounge for a bit and picked up my luggage (they'll store your luggage there free of charge, just show your ticket) and just hung out for a bit until the announcement that Amtrak Train #3 – The Southwest Chief would be boarding.
