Photos Of The Amtrak & CP Rail Toys For Tots Train

As a "bonus" for this trip, I just happened to be in the Capital Region during the weekend that the annual Toys For Tots train that was sponsored by Canadian Pacific Railway and Amtrak would be in the Albany area. I took a drive out to Delanson, NY to photograph this very festive train running on the old Delaware & Hudson mainline now owned by Canadian Pacific. The train was lead by Canadian Pacific EMD GP20C #2252 along with Amtrak's EMD F40PH #406 and GE P40DC #822 from Amtrak's Exhibit Train along with several Amtrak cars including 2 sleeping cars, 2 baggage cars, an Amfleet I Coach, an Amfleet I Cafe car, one more Amfleet I coach and brining up the markers was Amtrak's Business Car #10001. The train would make several stops along its route including this one, and members of the United States Marine Corps Reserve would distribute collected toys at each stop. The train originated out of Binghamton and would run up to Rouses Point, NY near the Canadian border. Dunkin' Donuts also provided hot coffee to visitors of Delanson today. Included here are photos of this very cool train taken around sunset when it arrived in Delanson. Enjoy...

Arriving in Delanson is the Toys For Tots train with Canadian Pacific EMD GP20C #2252 leading.

Amtrak GE P40DC #822 and non-powered F40PH #406 from Amtrak's Exhibit Train were along for the ride.

Amtrak Heritage Sleeper #10020 "Pacific Bend", a Budd-built car that started its career on the Union Pacific. It's painted in
Phase III paint and is part of the Exhibit Train.

Amtrak Heritage Sleeper #10021 "Pacific Cape", another Budd-built card that also started its career on the Union Pacific.
Today, it is a company service car, no longer used in revenue service.

The train also featured 2 baggage cars which was where collected toys
were dropped off from by members of the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve.

The train also carried Amfleet I cars.

Now after sunset, using a much higher ISO setting on the camera, here's one of the Amfleet I Coaches, this time #82808.
Anyone want some fresh, hot Dunkin' Donuts coffee???

Bringing up the markers is Amtrak Business Car #10001, this is also the "President's Car" on Amtrak!
This photo was taken as the train was departing Delanson for points north.
