Fall 2003 Amtrak Vacation
Buffalo To Sandusky, OH By Bus
Friday, September 19th, 2003

My Greyhound Bus was to leave Buffalo at 7:00am, we left on time and made scheduled stops at SUNY Fredonia, Erie, Ashtabula, Cleveland where we had a 1 hour break and I had a terrible lunch in their small food service area. Our next stops were in Elyria and finally Sandusky where I got off the bus there at 1:35pm, and trust me, I was quite glad to be there! A former co-worker of mine from Cedar Point picked me up from the Greyhound Station and drove me to my hotel, the Villager Premier on Cleveland Road in Sandusky. I checked into my hotel and I was absolutely amazed by all the amenities this otherwise rather basic hotel had! In this hotel, I had a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, plus a safe deposit box in the room, iron & ironing board, as well as free HBO and cable. The room was very clean and neat, and the phone had a data port on it so I could plug in my computer to get on the internet. They also gave us a free continental breakfast every morning which was very nice and consisted of the usual items: bagels, muffins, cereal, juice, etc. Overall, my impression of the hotel was great. I decided that I was going to the park Friday Night as well as on Saturday so I spent the evening at the park. I was able to ride Cedar Point's new ride this year, "Top Thrill Dragster", what an amazing achievement, I'll go into more detail about in later in the travelogue. I left the park around closing time Friday Night and came back to the room and had a rather lousy pizza delivered to my hotel room. I decided to crash for the night afterwards as I was very tired, so ends a very strange and unusual Day #1.
