The long idle carferry Arthur K. Atkinson was towed from Ludington Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, heading north onto Lake Michigan. The tugs David J. Kadinger and Jake M. Kadinger took the carferry out after waiting several days for the weather to improve. The tow is headed for the Detour, Mich. area.The Ludington Daily News reports that the former ferry was purchased by a private individual and will be used as a personal yacht. No other details were available.
