Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway Press Release 12/13/1978

Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway
A Locally Owned & Operated Railway
Is Preserving Local Rail Service.

The Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway began operating 45 miles of railroad from Vassar to Miffington,
Vassar to Caro and Coiling, and Vassar to Reese and Munger on Oct. 1, 1977. The T&SB Railway is the
Thumb's newest railway. The Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway is, in a very real sense, a cooperative
venture with all our shipper-owners, a locally owned and controlled railroad.

One of the basic ideas about Federal and State assistance to start short lines is that these lines have
failed primarily because of large amounts of public monies poured into road construction. For this reason,
funds are available to rehabilitate branch lines and help them to become more competitive with motor
carriers. The Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railway has a contract with the State to repair our tracks and
 provide other aid.

We are making ourselves of real value to our shippers in several ways:
