In Jan. 1970, ICC authorized Ann Arbor RR to abandon 80.52 miles of its carferry between Frankfort and Menominee, MI, and its yard switching tracks dock facilities at Menominee.

In 1970 applied to ICC for permission to abandon service to Manitowoc, Wis.

The Menominee route, long the most costly and difficult to operate in winter, was closed March 9, 1970.
