My name is Terry Clement. I am a member of the Buckley Old Engine Show club and do the web site for the club. About six year ago our club acquired the Bucyrus Crane #180 the Ann Arbor #3187 I believe from the Owosso area. Some current pictures are available on Eddie's Michigan Railroads on the Ann Arbor Page. The story being told by some of our club members at the time was; that this crane was originally purchased by Henry Ford and given as a gift to the AA Railroad, because train wrecks had taken so long to clear that it caused the temporary closing of one of his auto plants due to the lack of parts. I have since been unable to get anyone to confirm this story. There has been talk of some of our club members starting restoration of this crane and I also had a recent interest from a model railroader and author Gene Green from Alpaso, Texas. He had started making plan from a similar Bucyrus crane in his area and then it was scraped out. He claims this is the only other Bucyrus crane of this vintage he could locate. I don't even know the year this crane was manufactured. In our museum I have some pictures of the train wreck at Pamona. My sources place the date of the wreck as July 4th or 5th, 1929. In the pictures there are two similar crane clearing the tracks. The 3187 said to have been brought in from Ann Arbor and a second one brought in from Frankfort.
Can you provide any information on this crane or a good source to research? I have little to no knowledge of the railroad world.
Thank you,
Terry

About 2 months ago the AA caboose along Austin Road got pulled off of the
small bridge. It then got a good patching & cleaning. It got a new coat of bright
red paint about a month ago. It's still to the side of the bridge, so it may
be getting more paint/details. Anyone got some 1:1 decals?

I am intrested in Lake Michigan car ferries. Do you possibly know what the most transported rail car on the AA car ferries was. What products were carried. Any information will be of help. Thank You.

My aunt worked as a secretary for the railroad in Owosso for over 30 years. I have a few silver serving pieces from the railroad dining service and am wondering where I can find info as to their value. Any suggestions?

Good day
I did up a Dundee Cement covered hopper in S Scale using your decal set #7. Although a little on the small side, the car came out quite well (in my humble opinion).I send a pix of the finished car to Tom Hawley of Michigan Models (S Scale dealer) and he forwarded it to the car manufacturer in New Jersey. The comment came back about seeing what the prototype car looked like, but nowhere can I find a picture of one. Tom sent a inquiry to the AA list and got nothing back. Do you have, in your archives, a picture of a Dundee Cement car that we could pass on for viewing?
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
regards, ken garber
