ARKANSAS RAIL

- The Arkansas Association of Railroad Passengers -

WELCOME

Arkansas Rail was formed in 1978 as the Arkansas Association of Railroad Passengers, for the purpose of developing political support to preserve rail passenger service in Arkansas and northeast Texas. Our primary mission is to develop grass-roots support for the concept that Amtrak is a necessary part of this region's transportation network. The organization also functions in a consumer advocacy role to promote improvements in the quality and quantity of Amtrak service. In recognition of increased involvement with rail freight issues (shortline development, rail banking, and rail mergers), the name was changed to Arkansas Rail in 1995. Arkansas Rail is not affiliated with Amtrak, any railroad, rail union, or other rail advocacy group.

Arkansas Rail gratefully acknowledges the support and assistance provided by our web host, Steve Grande, owner of Trainweb.com and Trainweb.org. Trainweb is a convenient grouping of related rail Internet sites for persons interested in the rail transportation industry from either a professional or a hobby standpoint. Whether the interest is rail travel, rail industry, rail history or model railroading, TrainWeb provides important and useful information resources.

Arkansas Rail also wishes to acknowledge the extensive assistance provided by Sherman Frost, creator of the All Aboard-USA web site. All Aboard-USA became Arkansas Rail's first Internet host in September 1996. Without the guidance and expertise offered by Sherm Frost, the Internet presence of Arkansas Rail and numerous other rail advocacy groups would have been much delayed.
