  1. Central Mass local freight westbound at Waltham Highlands (Prospect Hill St.).
  2. Train 3111 at Waltham Highlands. This wigwag was the only one of its type on the B&M; at times the arm seemed to stand still and the pole wave!
  3. CM local meets train 3109 at Weston. When the freight departed it had exactly 14 minutes to run to Waltham North and be in the clear for train 3111.

  15. Train 3104 approaches the westernmost crossing in Hudson in a snowstorm.

  22. Train 3109 crosses Lyman Pond between Clematis Brook and Waltham North.

  33. Train 3104 takes the ups and downs through Wayside Inn on the long straightaway between South Sudbury and Ordway. Looking back from a westbound train one would see the South Sudbury station disappear and reappear five times.

  35. Train 3104 stops to line the corssover at East Switch.
  36. Train 3106 between Clinton tunnel and West Berlin. A house now stands on the old roadbed at this point.
  37. Train 3104 passes Poor Farm near Ordway running late as only eastbound that day because there was only one set of equipment at Clinton. Train 3107 the previous day was the last one out of North Station - on any route - before the railroad was shut down by the blizzard of March 20, 1954.

  41. Train 3100 exits Clinton Tunnel and plows the snow left by an overnight storm. This sequence took a long time to get and is one of the photographer's favorites.

  43. The B&B (Bedford & Billerica) local passes Woburn St. (then Route 128) in Lexington. This was a one-way operation as the train returned to Boston on the New Hampshire Division main line through Wilmington. Note "Ike and Mike", the B&M's two Barber-Greene snow loaders on the rear headed for Billerica Shop.
  44. B&B local passes Lexington depot.
  45. B&B local stops at North Lexington to flag crossing.
  46. B&B local departs Bedford. Trainman walked ahead to flag crossing so that train would not have to stop on hill. Count the autos that pass his flag.
  47. B&B local - engine only - arrives at Concord on the Reformatory Branch to pick up an outgoing car.
  48. B&B local in Bedford.
  49. Train 3209 approaching Mass. Ave. in Arlington. That parked truck was very close but the train got by.
  50. Order board clears and train 3211 "The Paul Revere" enters Arlington station.
  51. Watchman swings up his STOP sign and train 3211 departs Arlington.
  52. Train 3206 departs Lexington with a P-2 Pacific for power.
  53. Train 3217 passes Revere St. crossing at North Lexington.
  54. Train 3409 at Grape St. (Montvale) on the Stoneham Branch.
  55. Train 3802 leaves Sunapee Depot and order board goes to STOP for manual block.
  56. Train 3802 passes former location of Lake Sunapee station.
  57. Train 3802 arrives at Newbury.
  58. Train 3802 drops down the hill approaching Todd Pond on the north side of Bradford.
  59. Train 3802 enters Contoocook station through the covered bridge as agent sweeps snow off the mail cart.
  60. Train 3803 passes the old enginehouse at Claremont Junction.
  61. Train 3808 with a gas-electric car departs Claremont Junction.
  62. A head-end ride on the gas car of train 3808 from Claremont to Concord.
  63. Ride in the cab of a P-2 on train 2109 from Malden to Saugus.
