Heisler locomotive

OCSR's "The Curtis Lumber Company" #2 at Rockaway Beach, OR, 7/21/06.  Built in 1910, No. 2 is a Heisler  locomotive,  one of the 3 types of geared steam locomotives.   Heisler used  a 2-cylinder 90-degree V  design with one cylinder on either side of the boiler and a driveshaft to each of the powered trucks.  Geared locomotives were favored in logging operations for their slow speed operation and ability to operate on poor quality trackage.
