Kansas City Southern
(KCS) was a Class-1 railroad operating 3130 miles of track in 10
central and southeastern states. KCS had the shortest route
between Kansas City and the Gulf of Mexico, serving the ports of Port
Arthur, Texas, New Orleans and West Lake Charles, La. and Gulfport,
Miss. KCS was featured in August 2003 TRAINS.
In April 2023 KCS and CP merged; the combined RR
is CPKC.
