Utah Railway serves the coal mining industry in southern Utah.

5006 is a very rare locomotive; only 6 were built by [then] Morris-Knudsen (MK) Locomotive in 1994. With a 5000 horsepower Caterpillar engine, they went to Southern Pacific for several years and proved to be unsuccessful, probably contributing to MK's bankruptcy. Too much horsepower to transmit to the rails with DC traction made them prone to excessive wheel slip.  The locomotive has since been repowered and repainted.
