The ramp for
the MoW equipment was interesting and was the first time I've actually
seen it being used. In fact, a couple of UP's finest were unloading equipment
while I was there. I explored a bit of the line to the east of Nipton
to the siding at Desert, but still no hint of my next train. I can see
for 15 miles in either direction, and the scanner was quiet. I figured
here's the standard Saturday morning dead time, so I might as well head
up to the top of Cima again and see what might be coming from Kelso. I
didn't get 5 miles up the paved road out of Nipton, than a westbound came
around the tracks at Calada. Wish I had waited at Desert for them instead,
but oh well, I headed for Ivanpah instead.
