Same location, looking to the left. Brownville Junction in the foreground, then Searsport. Northern Maine Junction is in the distance.
A closer look at Northern Maine Junction, taken from the same spot.
Another overview, looking back the other way. In the foreground is Northern Maine Junction. Searsport is to the right, you can just see the end of it (where the lumber is piled, ready to be loaded onto a boat for shipment). The previous photos were taken from just to the right of the sander that you can see in the background. Against the far wall is Presque Iasle with the roundhouse and turntable.
Here is a look at the yard at Presque Isle. There are actually 3 towns here. Closest to us (with the coal company and several cars including a red BAR reefer) is Houlton. Next on the same mainline is Oakfield. And behind both of them, and including the turntable, is Presque Isle.
Now we are squeezed into the corner looking down the yard at Presque Isle. Again, the town closest to us on the left is Houlton. Next also on the left is Oakfield. And down the center of the picture, and including the turntable, is Presque Isle.
Here is the turntable with the roundhouse in the background. The roundhouse was scratch built by Tommy's father, Tom Robichaud, and will be the subject of a separate writeup in the projects section. The turntable is also scratch built, by Tommy. It still needs detailing, but it operates great!
This farming area is near Millinocket. Jim Collins and John Ciarleglio of the Bristol Club gave Tommy some help on building plaster scenery.
This is part of the scene at South Lagrange. The RDC has a DCC decoder in it which controls the lights as well as the motor.
There are also people riding in the RDC.
Main Street in South Lagrange.
Skip Readio built the first switch, showing us how. These are all scratch built, closed frog switches. Tommy is determined that all of our scale and hi-rail equipment will operate flawlessly. These pictures both show the yard at Searsport.
This project was done for the upcomming "Trains and Tracks" show. We don't expect to be able to make a lot of smoke in the school cafeteria, so Tommy came up with this fully operating (under DCC) crane car to add operational interest. We'll document it under the DCC page.
I tried to get a shot of Tommy, but he was just getting ready to bring out his RS3. That's him in the cab.
