Tom Robichaud's O Gauge Layout

Tommy's O gauge layout was originally built by his father in the 50's. The layout is 25'x7' with 2 loops connected by a signal ramp. There is is a large number of operating accessories, mostly Lionel. This is the left side of the layout. The track is all ballasted Gargraves flextrack. You can see an AF barrel loader in the middle.

This is the middle section. The layout is built into a long, narrow area in the eaves of the house. To maximise available room, its only a foot or so off the floor. Working on the underneath wiring is a challange! Here you can see accesssories like the operating magnet crane, an icing station, a cattle car loading ramp and a switch man.

And the right side. This gives a good idea of how it fits into the available space.

Here's the football field and we happen to catch it during a middle of a game.

This is a Lionel log-loader, one of several operating accessories. Logs can be dumped onto the loader, up the ramp and back into another car.

This is a view of the right side, taken closer to the ground. You can see the operating magnet crane towards the back.

This is a Plasticville Post Office and supermarket. Tommy has include many details in his layout.

Here's the control setup. All the switches and accessories are remote controlled. Tommy runs Trainmaster on this layout.
