Amherst Junction 2011

Afternoon on a Sunday, Amherst Junction, Wisconsin.
A CN train is heading west toward the underpass.
There are very few crossings near here,
and I had no long-distance warning of a train horn that this train was coming.
Just a gradually increasing roar by the cut.
.
An empty set of a rail train is in the middle of the freight train.

Little Giant crane along the ex-GBW track on top of the Junction.

I haven't been to 'downtown' Amherst Junction since last Autumn.

Here's a new microwave tower that is high enough to have aircraft warning lights.

.

.

And there's a smaller tower in Custer ( no picture )
a few miles west of here.

A mile southeast of Amherst Junction is the millpond east of downtown Amherst.
A town hall / VFW hall was built on the site of the old feed mill.
The rails of the old spur are still on top of the dam.
