September, 2011, Marshfield, Wisconsin.
This Summer, 3 companies announced plans to dig in Wood County and load frac sand for oil wells. |
.
|
The southeast line used to run to Wisconsin Rapids, but has been only a mile long and full of stored boxcars until recently. It ended at a switch at a lumber yard by County Highway A, like the picture below. |
|
Looking south from A, there's new track. I showed it in RED on my map, and I didn't have time to look closely at the site and draw details. |
.
.
| And up by the mainline, a loading company is using an old spur that has been on the maps a long time on the east end of the former (closed) Wicks Building site. (my map is not very accurate) |
| I never noticed this old spur before, maybe because I've never seen railcars between the buildings before. |
