Besides watching trains,
we also started feeding the birds
just after the snow covered the ground.
So far, we seem to have just two chickadees daily.
The cardinals come around only on warm days.
In mid-February 2012, there is just 2 inches of snow remaining,
far less than normal.

The frac sand plant at Valley Junction is BIG. It's on the UP / CNW north of Wyeville. Other people have shown it in pictures, but this is the first time I've seen it. This country is flat, and on the south end of the old Glacial Lake Wisconsin. |

There's more storage silos than I would expect for sand loading. The big ones with the rail loading bays seem typical. But the two shorter silos have what purpose? |
| There are hoppers, and a blinking yellow light on what I think is a large trackmobile coming through the left silo. |
