Railroad Snow Removal

Railroad Snow Removal

Sunday afternoon, January 19, 2014, Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Some snow is flying back there.

.

After the mainline train is out of the way, I see a wheel loader with a powered snow blower.

.

The track equipment shuttles back and forth plowing snow, passing it from track to track and accumulating it for the snow blower.
This snow fighter / ballast regulator is a Missabe unit with their arrowhead symbol.

.

The left blade is forward to pass all the snow to the right.

.

The entire A-side of the yard is empty of railcars so there's room to plow.
There's headlights of Air Forced One and two plows.

.

A few days before the Stevens Point work, a snow fighter was in Rapids.
They roll through the snow to get close to boxcars, and then start plowing away.

.

Plowing in Rapids. This is probably the same unit seen in Point.
