Wisconsin Rapids Dam train

No, I'm not swearing at trains in Rapids, although lots of people do when a long coal train ties up the west side of town.

This is a short story about trains crossing the Wisconsin River.

It's easy to get this view, and I have shown it a lot on previous web pages.

It takes a little prep and patience to see the bridge from below the dam at Grand Rapids,
and some clear air helps for the telephoto.
It helps that the street was raised a little last year, where i am standing.
Otherwise, I wouldn't be high enough to see the bridge over the dam.

And its rare to have it this calm in the daytime.

I looked back in my old pictures and didn't find what I wanted,
but did find this kite aerial from 2008, with some distorted stiching into a panoramic.
The railroad bridge is a white line that is a long ways away because of the wide-angle lens,
but you can appreciate how damming Grand Rapids changed the area.
