a Lot of Motive Power on the Railroad

a Lot of Motive Power on the Railroad

Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

On a lucky Sunday (mid-February 2017), I went out to gas up the car for the week. And I saw some CN parked over Church Street. A lot of power. The closer i got, i see 2, 3, 4, and more than i can see from street level.

I put up the quadcopter to get them all in one picture.
7 locomotives. From the depot to Veteran's Park and the Church Street underpass and the Soo Line 2713 Steam Engine

.

There's 25 cars for sand loading, and the rest of the train has some general freight.
I don't know how far it will go before they pull off the extra power. It's always interesting when locomotives get re-positioned for the week's assignments.
I've seen up to 14 locomtives on motive power transfers, but not in 12 years.

The good news is they are moving. I saw some pictures of UP storing 3 miles of engines now that some electrical generating plants have switched from coal to natural gas.
