Wisconsins Rapids Rail Oiler

Wisconsins Rapids Rail Oiler

I see something new on the railroad in Wisconsin Rapids in 2017.
A modern solar-powered track oiler has been installed north of the yard. I never noticed any oilers in town before. This should reduce wear on the curves.
This is a lot different than the old lever-operated oilers or wheel flange greasers that were pumped by the flanges rolling over. And it has catch pans and that black fabric that can soak up oil and leave rain water pass.
.
The rails run very straight to get to Rapids, but then they curve a lot getting through town.
Here's a rail replacement on a curve heading to the Taylor Subdivision
.

A mile south of the oiler are more curves on Dura Beauty Lane by the yard office.
