My items for the Soo Line Auction

My items for the Soo Line Auction

I went to an estate sale near Wisconsin Rapids last week, and I picked up these Soo Line pictures, and a commemorative EMD plaque.

I am donating them all to the SLH and TS auction to be held Sept 22, 2018.
Proceeds from the auction go to their benefit.

.

My wife cleaned them up, and I left them in the frames and took some simple pictures.
I didn' t try to make a perfect copy, and I think all these have been seen in print somewhere.

Soo 2713, the local favorite of Stevens Point

.

Soo 2713

.

Soo 2719, now at the Lake Superior Transportation museum.

.

Soo 5000

.

This picture was in a Bulletin a few years ago, with some mystery because the engine number doesn't show.
The cab shows . . . . C . . M . . . Stp . . SSM . . .

.

And there was this memento, I presume, of some sale by EMD to Soo Line of some GP-35 ? locomotives.
My gosh, I used to know model numbers better. Now I look them up on-line from the diesel rosters provided by others.

.

.

And this I didn't buy, a hand crank rail drill, $75. I have no idea if it was ever sold or to whom.

.

My own family contribution to the auction will be this brush.

.

My father in-law Harry Kalpinski was a Soo Line carman.

I think it is a passenger car window wash brush. .

It has been repaired with dry wall screws prior to 2003 (the year of his passing away).

The wood has an impression marking it as SOO LINE.

Here's my plans for visting the Soo Line Historical and Technical Society Convention in Stevens Point, WI, Sept 20-24.
I will set up my Snow Plowing Easy as Pie snow plow demonstrator module at the trade show for Friday night and Saturday morning. Here's my web page link, Snow plowing easy as pie
I haven't run that in 3 years anywhere. Many of my snow plowing stories were from Norm Severt, an operator of Jordan spreaders and Russel plows on the Soo Line.

I will be at the Saturday banquet and watch the auction.

If I can squeeze some time in, I might have a few 'pictures' for the 'slide shows' Thursday or Friday night.
Probably about Point and probably aerials, from a kite or quad copter. Some are not shown on my web pages yet. My home model railroad is not in any condition for a layout tour Sunday, but I hope to enjoy seeing some others in the area.
