A Class Wagon

A Class, Air fentilated closed wagons were 4 wheelers with hand actuated brakes.

The drawing is the basis for the model on the BTR, though many variants existed as below.

The ends of some of these wagons had louvers, here an AG Class wagon.

Others had louvers all round, here is an ALJ Class wagon, others had no louvers at all.

The model has a Masonite inner body that is heavy enough to stay on tracks for this short wagon.

A cupboard vent moulding is cut up to model the louverd ends for this wagon.

Construction continues, almost completed, destination & lading 'slates' for shunter chalk marks.

The framed louvers look quite acceptable for this wagon end. Hook & Chain coupling is used.

Completed A Class wagon ready to roll. Bolts in sole bar are dress makers pins.
