The Bruce Railways List

From the BruceRys Homepage:
This list specializes in the discussion of the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Railways’ branchline network in Midwestern Ontario. Originally known as the CPR Bruce Branches list, it offered subscribers a place to discuss the CPR rail lines from Streetsville through Orangeville to Owen Sound as well as the branches to Elora, Bolton, Walkerton and Teeswater. The expanded list adds coverage of the CNR’s Meaford, Alliston, Milton/Beeton subs in the east, the CPR’s Goderich and Listowel subs in the south as well as the CNR’s Goderich, Newton, Kincardine, Southampton/Fergus, Durham, Owen Sound and Wiarton subdivisions. It is this branchline trackage that is the primary focus of this list, and our interest spans the origins, expansion, abandonment and revitalization of these lines.

There are some good (but unfortunately mostly out-of-print) books available on the history of the CNR and CPR Bruce branches, but there’s always more info that we modellers and/or railfans need. That’s where the BruceRys list comes in.

It is our hope that this will be an active forum for sharing news and information on the Bruce Branches for the benefit of historians, railfans and modellers alike. We expect that the content of your posts will be as wide-ranging and interesting as that found on other major lists.

In addition, as a member of the BruceRys list, you have access to the calendar of upcoming events, polls, and files (photos, maps, drawings, etc.) to be uploaded and viewed by all BruceRys subscribers.

If you are interested in Railways in this area, I highly recommend joining the group. They always manage to be relevant and intresting, and manage to organize a few events every year, such as bike hikes, hikes, and slide shows.
