Sable River Lumber, Sable River (NS)
The main line ran 18 miles from Wilkins to Rush Lake and there was a 10 mile branch to Broad River Lake. A five mile pole railway was built in 1905 and the railway was built in 1906. The line and mill were closed in 1918 and the locomotives shipped out in Jan 1919. [Provided by Colin Churcher.]

Sydney and Louisburg, 1910, Sydney (NS)
Sydney to Louisburg 39.15 miles; branches to coal mines 25.75 miles. Dominion Coal was incorporated on 1 Feb 1893 to acquire by purchase or otherwise of all the coal mines between Sydney and Louisburg and to build railway lines and loading piers. For many years the Sydney and Louisburg was not a separate corporation but was just a department of Dominion Coal. In 1894 the S&L extended the former International Railway to a connection with the railway lines serving the Glace Bay and Caledonia Mines. In 1895 the S&L extended to Louisburg, an ice free harbour. Sydney and Louisburg Railway was incorporated in 1910 to acquire the lines owned by Dominion Coal and to build additional lines. [Provided by Colin Churcher.]

Sydney Mines to North Sydney - 2¾ miles, Sydney Mines to Princess Colliery - ¾ mile, Sydney Mines to Florence - ½ mile. General Mining Association incorporated 1825, locomotives first used 1856. Acquired by Nova Scotia Steel and Coal in 1901which amalgameted with Dominion Iron and Steel and Dominion Coal to form the British Empire Steel Corporation. Property was acquired by Old Sydney Collieries. [Provided by Colin Churcher.]
