Pemberton Derailment
Closes BCRail’s Mainline

North Vancouver, BC, December 10, 1999, from BCRail website - BC Rail has confirmed that a derailment, involving 20 freight railcars, occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning, just north of the 95-mile board in Pemberton. There were no injuries.

The derailed railcars were located in the middle of train. The effected railcars contained forest products from northern B.C. BC Rail anticipates the line will be closed for 48 hours. Freight traffic may be detoured with other carriers.

BC Rail’s derailment team is on site and is beginning the clean-up process. The derailment is under active investigation.
