and CPR Ottawa West,

Westmount Station:
4-6-4 Hudson *#2813; modern light 4-6-2 #1217; streamlined 4-6-4 Royal Hudson *#2826; switcher 2-8-0 #3642; streamlined 4-4-4 Jubilee *#2929 local from Sutton; F-7A #1405 and F-7B #1916 to Ottawa; semi-streamlined heavy 4-6-2s *#2459 and *#2393; E-8 #1800 to Sherbrooke; modern light 4-6-2s #1230 and #1231; E-8 #1802 "Alouette" day train to Boston; semi-streamlined heavy 4-6-2 *#2394; light 4-6-2 #2580; New York Central Alco RS-3 #8250 from Malone, NY.; Delaware & Hudson Alco RS-3s #4001 and #4025 overnight "Montreal Limited" from New York; modern light 4-6-2 #1258 to Mont Laurier; "Overseas Express" from Chicago-Toronto F-7As #1407 and #1413; second Section of "Overseas Express" train #22 originated Toronto (steam and diesel) streamlined 4-6-4 Royal Hudson *#2855 and MLW/Alco F-2A #4083 with 8 cars; MLW/Alco's F-2A #4097 and F-2B #4464 on "Atlantic Limited" from Saint John, NB; E-8 #1801 "Red Wing" overnight from Boston; MLW/Alco RS-10 #8564 local to Toronto; streamlined 4-6-4 Royal Hudson *#2824 from Ottawa; F-7A #1421 and F-7B #1917 "Frontenac" to Quebec City; Delaware & Hudson Alco RS-3 #4023 "Laurentian" day train to New York; F-7A #1409 and F-7B #1915 on "Dominion" from Vancouver.

Took CP commuter train to Windsor Station.

CN Central Station:
Boarded 1100 CN for Ottawa--powered by CN 4-8-4 6212 with 6 cars. Enroute west where both CP and CN lines follow one another--observed CP freight 2-8-2 #5152; streamlined 4-6-4 Royal Hudson *#2828 with 8 cars Ottawa-Montreal; CP freight enroute to Cote St. Luc, Montreal; MLW/Alco RS-3 #8452, Alco FA-1 #4002.

A CN Ottawa-Montreal bound passenger passed our train CN 4-8-2 #6018 with only 4 cars. Arriving Ottawa near Union Station, observed New York Central GM GP-7. Other CN power not listed on this post.

CPR Ottawa West

CP Power outside roundhouse:
MLW/Alco switcher S-2 #7089; light 4-6-2 #2609; modern light 4-6-2 #1231; 4-6-0 #425; light 4-6-2 #2200 (equipped with new style modern tender); 2-8-0 yard engines #3408 and #3510; Alco switcher S-2 #7011; 2-8-2 #5112; light 4-6-2 #2228; F-7As #1409 and #1401; light modern 4-6-2s #1219, #1227, #1269 and #1223; 2-8-2s #5192 and #5200; semi-streamlined heavy 4-6-2s *#2466 and *#2469; 4-6-0 #1005.

Engines Inside 27 stall roundhouse:
Light 4-6-2 #2219 (equipped with modern tender); 4-6-0 #488; light 4-6-2 #2202; 4-6-0 #424.

(Note: Semi-streamlined heavy 4-6-2s *#2466 and *#2469 assigned to two separate overnight passenger trains Ottawa-Toronto, one train called "Ottawa Express".)

At Ottawa West Station at 1530 boarded CP/CN pool train--originated Ottawa Union --for Smiths Falls. On the power end was modern light 4-6-2 #1269 (spotless)--1 CN baggage, two CP streamlined 2200 class coaches, CN dining car, two CP parlor cars--total 6 cars. This train goes to Brockville, making connections with International Limited to Toronto-Chicago-CN/CP pool from Montreal to Toronto. Prior to our train departing Ottawa West--the "Canadian" for Vancouver passed us with F-7A #1427 and F-7B #1927.

Carleton Place:
Modern light 4-6-2 #1228 passenger to Ottawa; light 4-6-2 #2500 (ex-DAR) on southbound freight to Smiths Falls; modern light 4-6-2 #1226 CP/CN pool train from Brockville to Ottawa with 3 cars in consist--CP streamlined head-ends express, postal-express car, baggage car, CP streamlined 2200 class coach, CP Parlor-buffet.
