February 2007 Meeting DetailsCAPT Meeting Selma, N.C. February 3, 2007 CAPT's February board meeting will be in the town meeting room of the Selma Visitors' Center located on East Anderson Street between Raiford Street and Webb Street. The center is two blocks from the Amtrak station. The meeting will be from 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. The northbound Carolinian arrives at 11:41 a.m. Those riding by train may want to have lunch on board before arriving. For those not coming by train there is a good sandwich restaurant, Clearwater, a block away. Everything is an easy walk from the Selma Union Station. Sanford Korshun, President of "East Trans" has accepted our invitation to be guest speaker at 1 p.m. Korshun spoke to us last in April of 2004 in Wilson. Korshun says "since our last meeting there has been a lot of planning and talk related to rail in eastern NC, not so much directly related to passenger service, but things are looking up for commuter rail service. ENCRRA, Inc. has come to recognize that we need to address these, and other elements of logistics, not as separate problems or projects, but as part of an overall part of a freight and passenger transportation plan, whatever the mode. All of these elements are basic and necessary for us to have economic development and be a part of the emerging global economy."
