Schedule of Events for Casey Jones Centennial Celebration

The 100th anniversary was a success so we are going to try it again for the 101st!  On April 28-29, 2001, the museum will again be alive with festivities memorializing the anniversary of his wreck near Vaughan.  Look for a little different focus this year.  Not so much fanfare or glitz, just a lot of rail fans spinning yarns and enjoying an afternoon near the tracks.

Kris and Margaret Carmichael are scheduled to return as is Greg Harkins.  The Yazoo crew will be back with art displays and exhibits.  Guided tours will be available of the wreck site.  The Steam Engine will be open for photo opportunities.  We only let people near the engine for this one weekend each year.  Souvenirs will be available.

This weekend will also mark the first ever convention of the Casey Jones Online group which meets through Yahoo.  This bunch of guys and girls spend considerable time debating railroad history and facts about Casey.  I may let them have an open mike to discuss their business because they are a pretty entertaining crowd.  We've never met face to face before so I can't speak for their looks.

If you have entertainment, art, or rail exhibit that you would like to bring, give me a call at 662-653-3351 or email me through the link on the home page.

See ya'll in a few weeks.
