My Last Newsletter as Secretary of the COL

I would just like to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to everyone who supported me as Secretary of COL for the past 2 years and this newsletter. It is with a little sadness that I now turn this job over to Larry Laskowski, our new COL Secretary. I wish Larry all the best in his new position. I will remain on the Board of Directors, as Past-President, until Phil Gravenhorst becomes Past-President someday. I would also like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas or Happy Chanukah and a Happy New Year.

 New Officers for 2008

Election ballots were counted at the December 14th Business Meeting and the results are as follows:

 President – Phil Gravenhorst

Vice-President – Scott Firestone

Secretary - Larry Laskowski

Treasurer – Al Schick

Board of Directors:

            Peter Palma

            John Cardona

            Mike Heindl

Officers will begin their terms in January 2008.

COL Selling Limited-Edition Cars on eBay

We are selling the Ronkonkoma limited-edition Weaver coal hoppers on eBay. We are doing this as Weaver USA over produced our order and sent us 53 Ronkonkoma cars to go with the 31 Amityville, Babylon and Holbrook cars we ordered, so we have about 22 extra Ronkonkoma cars. There are currently three Ronkonkoma cars on eBay and more will be added soon. We will also be selling three epoxy resin water kits on eBay, as we have purchased a new type of gel water kits, which should be easier to use and give better results for a more realistic water area.

 COL Holiday Party

We will be having our COL Holiday Party this month; however, this year’s party will be December 29th starting at 6:00pm. We will be having a hot buffet from Mamma Mia’s. The party is open to all members and their families and guests. Please put your name and how many people you are bringing on the list in the meeting room. Bring a set of trains to run during the Holiday Party and let’s have some fun.

 Open Houses and Swap Meets

The next Swap Meet is January 20th. Swap Meets are held at the Bohemia Bingo Hall from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. Please come to help setup, teardown and run the Swap Meet to help raise money for our club.

Our next Open House will be January 12th and 13th. Please setup your trains the day before or that morning before 11am. Open House hours are 12 noon to 5 pm.

Complete Open House and Swap Meet schedules can be found on the flyers (at the club) or on the COL website (the address of the website is on the top of this Newsletter).
