Above is my one and only P&W boxcar. It's an Atlas model
that I custom decaled. The P&W was one of the small
regional roads that made use of the Incentive Per Diem (IPD) boxcar
program in the late 70's and early 80's. These small roads got
increased rates for adding new boxcars to the nationwide
fleet. Not only did they get paid more per day ("Per Diem")
than normal, they were also exempt from the Car Service Rules,
allowing them to make better use of the car. I'm adding more
and more IPD boxcars from various small roads to show this unique
service on the layout.
