CNW 742052: An Athearn gondola which stared as a Rock Island
(Rock) decorated assembled model. I patched over the Rock road
number in a similar shade of light blue. The real car was
really beat up in the 1981 photo I had of it. I replicated the
pitting and rust with acrylic paint and powders. The Rock
Island went bankrupt in 1980 and their fleet was picked up by other
railroads, like the CNW. Many rode for several years in these
ex-Rock paint schemes.
