B&O Freight Station, Martinsburg, WV
This B&O Freight station is still standing in
Martinsburg. Located right by Consumers Fuel and A&E
Alignment Shop, it has been completely restored, though it was
closed and boarded up in the Chessie era. I made it out of
parts from two Life-Like kits. The roof is styrene. I
scratch built the plywood entrance and the loading dock.
Neither of those features exists today, but you can see them in
the 1976 photo below. The model is painted with spray can
red and gray primer.
The yellow color is a custom mix I applied with an airbrush.
I weathered the wood with a rounded blade to scrape away the paint
and an India ink wash. The sign is a computer print out of a
photo.
Below is a shot of the real freight station in 1976. Note
the boarded up windows and lack of any activity on the platform as
signs it is closed.
